Listen up. I realized today that I listen more often than I speak. Being an only child plus being a loser(kidding) I tend to always be by myself. I go to the mall by myself, I go walk downtown, by myself, I play ball, by myself, I dance, by myself, I pretty much do most things on my own, and I guess you could say I enjoy my own company, but even more when I'm people but I don't mind being on my own. Doing everything on my own, doesn't account for a lot of conversation or talking, unless, I'd randomly talk to myself which I don't do. So, I don't talk very much, I sort of just, listen. To random conversations on the street or to street noises, or most of the time my ipod. In my psychology class, I learned about Selective hearing. It's when you tune everything out except for one noise, like how you can talk to one person in a room full of talking people but only hear whomever is talking to you. And everything else is just blurry noise. I wish I had selective hearing when it came to listening to Him. I try to figure out what he's trying to say to me, wait upon signs or hear His voice. I get Him confused with my own gut feeling, and I was chillin' at Blenz, Yeah, I know, I work at Starbucks and I chill at Blenz. FREE INTERNET man, Frick Starbucks. Anyway, I was looking up verses about listening and I came across Isiah 55:2-3. It says 2"Why do you spend money on what is not bread, and your wages on what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in abundance". 3"Incline your ear and come to me, Hear, and your soul shall live, and I will make an everlasting covenant with you..." Now check it, the first line is saying, Yo, why do we spend money on things that we don't need? Why do we spend our pay cheques on material things? I'm a clothing guy myself and I buy clothes on the daily, I must admit and it's something I should really cut down on, and I use most of my pay cheque for these things but check it, this is what God says in verse 3, He says, Listen to me, Selectively hear my voice, take what you need and I will make sure you live well.
Man, that's a stone cold promise right there. All we have to do is listen, carefully, listen to what he wants from us, and He will give us everything we need and more, all we have to do is Listen.
